Students Journalists Secure Five Awards
Missouri Valley College’s student journalists won five awards earlier this month at the Missouri College Media Association’s 2025 conference at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg.
MVC’s student newspaper, The Delta, competes in MCMA Division 3, which includes schools like Evangel University, Park University, and Drury University.
Leading off the awards was Raychael Moseley, the Delta’s managing editor, who took first place in news writing. Her article beat out quality competition from reporters at Evangel and Park.
In addition to Moseley’s award, MCMA judges presented the Delta with the following awards:
– Taylor Greife and Sophie De Rouin received first place in the investigative reporting category.
– Tyler Conkright received third place in sports writing
– The staff of KMVC News received second and third place in the news video category for videos displayed on the Delta website.
The Delta students work under the supervision of advisor Chris Post, instructor of mass communication. Post praised the efforts of his students, noting the relative youth of MVC’s award winners.
“The four reporters recognized by the MCMA judges were first- and second-year students when they wrote their respective articles,” he said. “The fact that they took first place in the very competitive newswriting and investigative reporting categories is a testament to their hard work and dedication.”
The work of MVC’s print journalism students can be seen weekly in The Delta, which is distributed on campus, or online at www.mvcdelta.com.
