Sigma Tau Delta Travels to Cincinnati for International Convention
The Missouri Valley College Nu Epsilon chapter of Sigma Tau Delta traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio on March 23-25 to participate in this year’s international convention. Sigma Tau Delta is an honors society for students pursuing a major or minor in literature, composition or other related fields.
Students who participated in this year’s conference were senior Dakota Cantwell, presenting his scholarly paper “Accepting Confession Through Humor: An Examination of Sherman Alexie’s Ten Little Indians,” and senior Lindsey McMillan, who presented her short story “Fix.” They were accompanied by junior Lea Filali and Senior Katanna Davis, as well as the chapter’s sponsor, Dr. Debbie Olson.
Both papers were well received by their audiences, as were the students’ answers during the thought provoking question and answer session. This was McMillan’s first time presenting work at the Sigma Tau conference and Cantwell’s second time. The students were excited to participate in the international conference as well as to experience the culture of Cincinnati.
Sigma Tau Delta offers chances for induction every year. If interested in joining, please contact Dr. Olson at olsond@moval.edu for more information.
