Repertory Dance Ensemble to Present Annual Concert
Missouri Valley College’s Repertory Dance Ensemble will present their annual dance concert “Past, Present, Future” February 15-17 at 7:30 p.m. nightly in the Eckilson-Mabee Theatre on the MVC campus. There will be a questions and answer session with the performers and choreographers following Friday nights performance.
The concert will feature an alumni dance by former Repertory Dance Ensemble members as well as a mixture of dance styles throughout the performance. The concert will showcase choreography by seniors Kasey Milton and Jordan Galey, Associate Professor of Dance Janie Morgan and Jo Byrnes, guest artist.
Jo Byrnes has undergraduate degrees from Kansas State University as well as an M.F.A. degree from Texas Woman’s University in dance and related arts . Byrnes has over 30 years of teaching experience in private studios, public schools and at the college level. She was a founding member and artistic director for a.musing.dance.company and the Instant Dance Project. She has choreographed and performed with various companies and independent artists in the Dallas and Boise, Idaho areas. Currently, Byrnes is an associate professor of dance at Cottey College where she serves as the fine arts division chair, coordinates the dance program and directs the Cottey-in-Motion Dance Company.
“This year we have a nice variety of styles with three tap dances, a pointe piece, jazz and modern dances,” said Janie Morgan, associate professor of dance. “The students have worked really hard and we are excited to share our work with an audience.”
