Lively served as dean and associate dean of the School of Arts, Media & Communications at Lindenwood University for five years, and he was a professor of communications there for nine years prior to that. He designed and taught remotely the senior level capstone course taken by students in K-12 art education, game design, graphic design, web design, digital art, photography, and studio art.

Dr. Lively has a Doctor of Philosophy from Nova Southeastern University, where he also received his Ed Specialist Degree. He has an MBA from Tarleton State University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Howard Payne University. He currently lives in Wellington, Texas.
