Nursing Program Awarded Grant for RN to BSN Track
The Missouri State Board of Nursing has awarded a $165,599 grant to Missouri Valley College’s School of Nursing and Health Sciences to help increase support for the nursing profession by implementing specialized tracks assisting RN’s in receiving their bachelor’s degree.
The grant came from the Nursing Education Incentive Program (NEIP), said Dr. Peggy Van Dyke, dean of Missouri Valley’s School of Nursing.
“We are honored to receive this prestigious grant,” Van Dyke said. “This grant will help grow and sustain future nurses to address the nursing shortage. It is a critical need in rural and underserved areas.”
This year, the state board focused its grants on enhancing faculty recruitment and retention, and integrating technology and innovation in nursing education to prepare students for practice.
MVC is nearly finished with construction on its new Julie Ann Deems Julien School of Nursing and Health Sciences, a 17,000 square foot building on campus scheduled to open this fall.
