MVC Vice President of Academic Affairs to Receive Award
MVC Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Diane Bartholomew, will be awarded the 2018 Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award by the Mid America Athletic Trainers’ Association (MAATA).
This award is in recognition of the exceptional commitment to leadership, volunteer service, advocacy and distinguished professional activities as an athletic trainer at the district and state levels. Dr. Bartholomew has served as the newsletter editor, president elect, president, past-president and past-president pro tempore of the the Iowa Athletic Trainers’ Association (IATS). Among other examples, she has been a volunteer at the majority of MAATA annual meetings for nearly two decades and served as the MAATA vice president. She is currently completing her fourth year as the MAATA, education committee chair. She has promoted the profession of athletic training in the district in various ways including creating curricula while at a community college in Kansas, serving on the Iowa Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Nutrition and speaking to a variety of public groups. She is also active nationally. Bartholomew was inducted into the IATS Hall of Honor (2016) and was recognized as the IATS Educator of the Year (2013).
Dr. Bartholomew will receive this award during the 2018 Hall of Fame and Awards Dinner on Friday, March 16 in LaVista, Nebraska. The awards dinner serves to recognize the individuals that were nominated and selected by their peers to receive an award for their service to athletic training.
