MVC Student Research Symposium Calls for Proposals
The Missouri Valley College Student Research Symposium Committee is seeking proposals of student academic work. Accepted proposals will be presented during the MVC Student Research Symposium on Friday, December 1 from 3-7 p.m. The symposium will be held in the Malcolm Center for Student Life located on the MVC campus.
The symposium committee encourages submissions of original research, reviews, scholarly essays, creative writing, performance, film and original artwork. Students may submit a proposal for one presentation, performance or poster. A title and abstract (100 words) of the student’s poster, presentation or performance must be submitted by Wednesday, November 15 at 11:59 p.m. central time.
“As a future medical researcher, the MVC Student Research Symposium is a great place to start my professional work as I have the opportunity to practice what will definitely be a part of my career,” said Kimberly Ndlovu, junior pre-med student. “ One of the most rewarding experiences about sharing my work is the intellectual conversations which open my mind to other perspectives.”
A presentation is a 10-minute oral presentation of critical, research, professional or creative work, including original film, followed by a short Q&A at the end of each session. A performance is a 10-minute performance of dance, music or drama, followed by a short Q&A at the end of each session. A poster is a 24×36” graphic presentation of research, professional or artistic work; presenters will participate in an audience Q&A during the session. Outstanding student work will be recognized by three awards for excellence in undergraduate student research.
