MVC Music Department to Host Guest Artist for Concert and Masterclass
The Missouri Valley College Music Department will host Guest Artist Dr. Arthur White who will present a concert and masterclass on February 7.
Dr. Arthur White, an Andreas Eastman jazz and saxophone artist, is a nationally recognized composer, arranger, educator and touring saxophonist. All About Jazz calls White’s ensembles “solidly impressive,” while referring to his “virile tenor solos,” “scorching alto broadsides,” and his ability to “vacate(s) the podium to fashion ‘splendid’ tenor solos…”.
Dr. Arthur White, saxophone, and his jazz combo will present a fundraising dinner concert on February 7 at 7 p.m. in the Malcolm Center Bacon Room. Dr. White will also present a masterclass that afternoon at 4 p.m. in the Bacon Room. The masterclass is free and open to the public.
Tickets for the dinner concert are $30 which includes the concert, dinner and bar service; tickets may also be purchased for $20 which includes the concert and dinner only. All proceeds will go to the MVC Music Department.
“We are excited to have a nationally recognized jazz musician and teacher visit our campus,” said Dr. Aaron Wacker, assistant professor of instrumental music. “This is a wonderful opportunity for musicians to improve their skills during the masterclass. We have also invited local high schools to join us for the event, which is sure to be a lot of fun. We hope to see a big crowd supporting this nationally recognized musician and the MVC Music Department.”
