MVC Division of Fine Arts to Hold Production of Student Directed One Act Plays
The Division of Fine Arts will hold an upcoming production of student directed one act plays. The production will run February 27-29 at 7:30 p.m. nightly in The Morris Experimental Theatre (The MET).
One of the plays that will be performed is “Ah, Eurydice” by Stanley Taikeff which is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York. The cast includes Martin Hynick who will play Pluto, Daniel Ripley who will play Orpheus and Maddison Buck who will play Eurydice. The setting of this play is the underworld and the first characters we meet are Pluto and Orpheus, who has come in search of his lost bride, Eurydice. Orpheus has been told that Pluto will be able to restore Eurydice to him. Pluto is glad to oblige, but makes the proviso that Orpheus must not look back at Eurydice as he leads her out of the underworld. This play will be directed by Alicia Hicks.
The other play that will be performed is “I Dream Before I Take The Stand” by Arlene Hutton which is produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. (www.playscripts.com). The cast includes Kaylee Hering who will play SHE and Troy Hunt who will play HE. In this play, a defense lawyer cross examines a woman during her testimony in a sexual assault case and in doing so, horribly distorts her perfectly innocent walk in the park. This play will be directed by Makayla Rodgers.
