MVC Division of Fine Arts Presents Fall Production
The Missouri Valley College Division of Fine Arts presents the MVC Theatre Ensemble’s production of 30 Neo-Futurist Plays from Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind, 30 Plays in 60 Minutes, by Greg Allen, November 3-5 at 7:30 p.m., nightly in the Eckilson-Mabee Theatre.
This fast-paced evening of theatre is based on the Neo-futurist aesthetic which is an evolving, multi-faceted theatrical aesthetic built on a belief in truthful, direct communication between the performer and the audience. This movement was spearheaded by Greg Allen at the Chicago-based Neofuturist Theater where, Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind, has been performed since 1988.
With numerous audience participation opportunities, the audience becomes an important part of the ensemble. The cast has 60 minutes to perform 30 plays, chosen by the audience from a menu. The plays range from comic, to serious, to abstract, from political to personal, and the use of adult language and material should be expected.
Following the play, there will be an Improv show by The MVC Flatliners, and a chance to win prizes, and enjoy some pizza with the cast.
The performances are free and open to the public. The house will open at 7:00 p.m. nightly. Audiences should arrive early to take part in some random experiences and to make some art. The plays contain mature language and themes. For more information contact Harold Hynick at hynickh@moval.edu or 660-831-4052.
