The Missouri Valley College Debate and Forensics team spent the weekend competing digitally at Highland Community College and the University of Kentucky.

At Highland, students competed in International Parliamentary Debate. MVC Freshman Camden Phillips (Rapid City, South Dakota) compiled a 2-2 record in preliminary rounds for a sixth place finish.  MVC Freshman Cuauhtemoc Olvera (Snyder, Texas) also went 2-2 and finished in fifth place.  MVC Freshman Sha Wilson (Snyder, Texas) won fifth place speaker at the tournament.

At the University of Kentucky, first time partners Cuauhtemoc Olvera and Freshman Evan Tindle (Springfield, Missouri) placed sixth overall in Public Forum debate.

“Our very young team at Valley has shown time and time again that they have what it takes to compete against students who are older and have more experience.  I’m so incredibly proud of all the time and effort they’ve put into succeeding this season.”
