MVC Debate and Forensics Team Competes Gorlock Gala Tournament
The Missouri Valley College Debate and Forensics team had another successful weekend, this time in the Gorlock Gala Tournament hosted virtually by Webster University.
The team of Evan Tindle (Freshman, Springfield, Missouri) and Cuauhtemoc Olvera (Freshman, Snyder, Texas) went undefeated in preliminary rounds of Public Forum debate. They lost a close round in the semifinals to Boise State University.
Meanwhile in Lincoln-Douglas debate, Camden Phillips (Freshman, Rapid City, South Dakota) and Sha Wilson (Freshman, Snyder, Texas) racked up wins against Central Michigan, Missouri State and Lafayette College.
“The first tournament coming back from break is always the hardest of the year, but I think our debaters focused hard and got some good wins,” said Debate Coach David Bowers. “Hopefully we can carry that work ethic and competitive spirit into nationals season.”
The MVC Debate and Forensics team will be at it again next weekend competing virtually at the Border Wars Tournament, hosted by Kansas Wesleyan University.
