Missouri Valley College broadcast students are bringing home a total of 11 awards from competition in the 2024 Missouri Broadcast Educators Association student competition.

MVC again placed first among the 16 colleges competing in the multi-camera live sporting event category for their broadcast of women’s soccer in the first round of the NAIA national playoffs. This is the ninth in the past 10 years MVC students have won the award. That first place finish belonged to Kary Patron and Connor Bell, who also tied for second place with another MVC team, Kary Patron and Jimi Sorunke.

Patron continued to collect top awards in the KMVC Audio Air-check Competition, script writing (Barriers to education) and Video PSA (Six months of Reading).

Ylenia Exposito also performed quite well, with a second place finish in Audio PSA (Smoke Shop) third place finishes in Audio Documentary/Public Affairs for a softball interview and Video Sports Show (MVC wrestling), and an honorable mention in KMVC Audio Air Check.

Laura Quero received an honorable mention for her video commercial (KMVC News).

The award-winning students are educated and trained each year by award-winning faculty members Chaz Maddi, Ken Kujawa, and Bobby Collins.

The MBEA video and audio competition awards will be presented April 12 at the MBEA/ Missouri College Media Convention in Warrensburg. MBEA is judged annually by area broadcast professionals.
