Murrell Library & Academic Support Center at Missouri Valley College invites applications for a full-time graduate assistant for an Academic Services Graduate Assistant.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
The Academic Services Graduate Assistant will play a critical role in managing the Testing Center, supervising Academic Coaches, and ensuring effective communication with Disability Services. This position involves overseeing test proctoring, conducting data analysis, and generating reports to support the Academic Support Services.
Responsibilities:
- Testing Center Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the Testing Center, ensuring a smooth and efficient testing environment.
- Coordinate and schedule test proctoring, including managing test materials and ensuring adherence to testing protocols.
- Address and resolve any issues that arise during testing sessions.
- Test Proctoring:
- Administer and proctor exams for students, ensuring that testing procedures are followed and providing assistance as needed.
- Maintain the integrity of the testing environment and uphold academic standards.
- Communication with Disability Services:
- Act as a liaison between the Testing Center and Disability Services to accommodate students with special testing needs.
- Implement approved accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with MVC policies.
- Supervision of Academic Coaches:
- Supervise and provide support to academic coaches, including training and guiding them in their roles.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of academic coaches, providing feedback and addressing any concerns.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to testing, academic coaching, and other departmental functions.
- Create and present detailed reports on testing outcomes, student performance, and program effectiveness.
- Use data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and make recommendations for enhancing academic services.
- Administrative Support:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of documentation and procedures related to testing and academic coaching.
- Perform general administrative tasks as required, including scheduling meetings and managing correspondence.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree before the start of the assistantship, acceptance into an applied graduate program, have a minimum of a 2.5 undergraduate GPA, or 3.0 if any graduate work has been completed prior to being hired and all international students wishing to work must have a Social Security number.
- Effective interpersonal skills; ability to interact productively with students, faculty staff, and other constituents.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and willingness to work irregular hours.
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including international students.
- Basic computer literacy; basic competency in software and database systems (i.e. Microsoft Office, Adobe).
