Division of Fine Arts to Hold Summer Performing Arts CampPosted March 31, 2017
Missouri Valley College’s Division of Fine Arts will host a Summer Performing Arts Camp June 26-30, 2017 on the MVC campus.
The day-long camp will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the half day elementary camp will run from 9:00 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. The half day elementary camp is new this year and offered to students who have completed kindergarten through second grade and will include introductory classes in dance, theatre and music. The full day camp is offered to students who have completed grades three through 12 and will include classes in dance, musical theatre, acting, shakespeare, improv and vocal music. The camp will culminate with a performance showcase at 6:30 p.m. on June 30.
The cost for the full day camp is $50 for those that have registered and paid by May 1 and $75 for those that register and pay after May 1. The cost for the half day camp is $30 if registered and paid by May 1 and $50 for those that register and pay after May 1. Full tuition scholarships to cover the cost of the camp are offered to full day campers who may not be able to afford the camp otherwise. Scholarship applications are due by May 1.
“For years, parents have been asking for something for the younger kids,” said Harold Hynick, associate professor of theatre. “It’s great to have the programming in place for them this year.”
