Division of Fine Arts Presents Sunday Matinee of Schoolhouse Rock Live!Posted February 14, 2017
The Missouri Valley College Fine Arts Division will present Schoolhouse Rock Live!, at 7:30 p.m. nightly, March 16 -18 and a Sunday matinee on March 19 at 2 p.m. in the Eckilson-Mabee Theatre on the MVC campus.
A pop culture phenomenon comes to the musical stage in Schoolhouse Rock Live! The Emmy Award-winning 1970s Saturday morning cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math and more through clever, tuneful songs is not only making a small-screen comeback, it's lighting up stages everywhere – from school multi-purpose rooms to university and regional theatres all around the country.
Schoolhouse Rock Live! follows a nerve-wracked school teacher who is nervous about her first day of teaching. She tries to relax by watching TV, when various characters representing facets of her personality emerge from the set and show her how to win her students over with imagination and music, through such songs as "Just a Bill," "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly" and "Conjunction Junction."
Schoolhouse Rock Live! Brings an infectious zest to a cross-generational audience.
“We are excited to be offering a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee with this production,” said Harold Hynick, associate professor of theatre. “This will make it easier for families and those who have to get up early for work to enjoy the production.”
Tickets are $5 for the general public and free for children 18 and under or with an MVC ID. You can pre-order tickets online at http://www.moval.edu/fine_arts/tickets.php or call 660-831-4052.
