Viking Men's Cross Country Ranked No. 17 to Open SeasonPosted August 28, 2014
Marshall, Mo. (August 28, 2014)- The Missouri Valley College men’s cross country team enters its 2014 season as the No. 17 ranked team in the NAIA Men’s Cross Country Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll.
This is the second-consecutive season the Viking men’s cross country team has been ranked in the preseason coaches’ poll and the No. 17 ranking is the highest in program history. Missouri Valley is the only Heart of America Athletic Conference team ranked in the preseason coaches’ poll, with Central Methodist University in the “others receiving votes” category.
The Vikings are coming off a 2013 season which included a Heart of America Athletic Conference championship which earned the team a berth in the NAIA Men’s Cross Country National Championship.
The 2014 season opens for the cross country program on Sept. 5 at the Walt Crawford Open at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Ill.
