Paint the Town Purple- MVC to Celebrate Homecoming 2014

The Missouri Valley College community will celebrate Homecoming festivities Oct. 17 and 18 on the MVC campus. The 2014 Homecoming theme is Paint the Town Purple.

Activities include the 45th annual torch run, homecoming bonfire, alumni banquet, homecoming parade, pre-game tailgate, MVC Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony, 50-Plus Club breakfast and a schedule of Viking athletic events. Many events this year will be held in the College’s newly constructed Malcolm Center for Student Life, including a recognition ceremony for the building’s donors.

“The theme this year is "Paint the Town Purple" and we plan to do just that,” said Jennifer Hiller, director of alumni relations.  “Not only are we celebrating our incredible alumni during Homecoming weekend we're also celebrating our new Malcolm Center for Student Life and our quasquicentennial anniversary. The excitement on campus will be electric!”

Four alumni will be recognized at the alumni banquet on Friday, Oct. 17 in the Charles L. Bacon Conference Center in the Malcolm Center: Outstanding Alumni Award recipients Thomas Hayob ‘79 of Marshall, Mo.; Steven Beahm ‘86 of Oakland Township, Mich.; Raymond Colaiacovo ‘94 of Wellington, Fla.; and Outstanding Young Alumni Award recipient Lee Taylor ‘08 of Knoxville, Tenn. The anniversary classes of 1964, 1974, 1984, 1989, 1994 and 2004 will also be recognized.

The 2014 MVC Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees include: Raymond Ricono, Jr. ‘62, posthumously; Dennis Robinson ‘72 of Fenton, Mo.; Mike O’Brien ‘75 of Toledo, Ohio; E. Stanley McKinney ‘76 of Skokie, Ill.; Michael “Woody” Forrest ‘78 of Bosworth, Mo.; and Brad Drehle ‘90 of Jefferson City, Mo. The induction ceremony will take place Saturday, Oct. 18 in the Malcolm Center.
