MVC's Max Slutsky Earns National Lacrosse Honor

Marshall, Mo. (May 19, 2014)- The No. 20 Missouri Valley College men's lacrosse team ​recently wrapped up its inaugural season at the ​Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) Division II National Tournament last week​ in Irvine, Calif.  

 

MVC Junior Attacker Max Slutsky (Raleigh, N.C.) was named to the honorable mention list on the MCLA Division II ​a​ll-America​n​ team. Slutsky helped to lead the team to a 12-1 regular season record, scoring 38 goals with 21 assists in the process.  His 6.5 goals per game during the regular season led the Vikings and was second in the ​Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference (GRLC) Division II.

 

Slutsky’s best game of the season came in a 31-2 home win over Benedictine College on April 5 when he scored seven goals and added four assists for a season-high 11 points. Earlier this month,​Slutsky picked up two conference awards for his play during the 2014 season.  He was named​ a​ GRLC Division II first team all-conference​ athlete​ at the attacker position and was named the GRLC Division II Offensive Player of the Year.

 

“Max is a great player and has great field awareness,” said Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach Kevin Totaro.  “He is a huge asset to the program.” The Vikings finished the 2014 season with a 15-2 record which included a GRLC Division II championship and an appearance in the MCLA Division II National Tournament.
