MVC Men's Tennis Ends Regular Season Receiving VotesPosted April 30, 2014
Marshall, Mo. (April 30, 2014)- The Missouri Valley College men’s tennis teams will finish the 2014 regular season in the “others receiving votes” category in this week’s NAIA Men’s Tennis Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The Vikings have remained just outside the top 25 throughout the season.
Last week the men’s tennis season came to an end after losing in the semifinal round of the Independent Grouping Tournament in Joplin, Mo. The men’s team had won 14-consective matches before losing in the semifinals to No. 21 Lewis and Clarke State (Idaho). The Vikings finished the season with a 14-2 record.
Also, several members of the men’s tennis team Earned all-conference honors for their play during the season. Earning first team singles honors were Senior Luiz Moura (Piracicaba, Brazil) and Sophomore Lucas Oliveira (Sao Paulo, Brazil). Named to the second team in singles were Junior Wesley Ng (Brampton, Ontario) and Senior Brock Hughes (Gilford, Ontario). All four were also named to the all-conference doubles first team.
The MVC women's team also lost in the semifinals of the postseason tournament and finished 13-4 record.
