MVC Cheer Squad Wraps Up Competition Season at NCA Championships Friday

Marshall, Mo. (April 11, 2014)- The Missouri Valley College cheer squad wrapped up competing at the NCA Collegiate National Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla., Friday  The Vikings were competing in the NAIA Small Co-Ed Division at the event.

The cheer squad finished the preliminary round in first place after Thursday’s competition, and headed into the championship finals Friday. MVC finished with a routine that scored 90.20 points, the highest in program history at the event, but placed fifth overall in the championship standings. “Day one showed that we had the skills and talent to win,” said Head Cheer Coach Kristin Lyming. “We just had a rough day today. I am so proud of the team and their dedication all season.”


The Viking cheer squad finished the 2013-2014 season earning championships in the Winter Classic and Cupid Classic held at Missouri Valley College, and capturing the program’s fourth-straight small co-ed championship in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
