MVC Cheer Squad In First After Prelims at NCA Championship

Marshall, Mo. (April 10, 2014)- The Missouri Valley College cheer squad began competition Thursday morning at the NCA Collegiate National Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla.  The Vikings competed in the preliminary round of the NAIA Small Co-Ed Division.

  1. The cheer squad finished the preliminary round in first place, after scoring an 89.78.  The Vikings received a 90.53 sub-total, with a .75 deduction to finish with their preliminary round score.  MVC leads second place Oklahoma City University which scored an 87.63 and third place Martin Methodist College which scored an 85.33.  The other finalists include Indiana Wesleyan University, St. Ambrose University and Lindenwood University-Belleville. MVC advances to the competition finals which are scheduled for Friday morning.  
  2. MVC will be attempting to repeat as National champions, as the squad captured the NCA Small Co-Ed Division championship in 2013.
