MVC Men's Golf Team Places No. 5 at Evangel Spring InvitationalPosted April 2, 2014
Marshall, Mo. (April 2, 2014)- The Missouri Valley College men’s golf team took part in the Evangel Spring Invite in Springfield, Mo., Monday and Tuesday. The team placed No. 5 with one individual placing in the top 10.
Leading the men’s team was Freshman Caleb Abalos (Springfield, Mo.) who shot a two-day score of 158 (+14) to place No. 9 in the individual standings. Kirk Hoggatt (Sikeston, Mo.) placed No. 16 shooting a 162 (+18). Freshman Shane Hall (Sugarland, Texas) and Sophomore Travis Chorley (Alberta, Canada) both tied for No. 18 with a 164 (+20) while Junior Dave Wheatley (Prince Edward Island, Canada) placed placed No. 21 with a 165 (+21) to round out the top five golfers for the Vikings
As a team the Vikings shot a 643 (+93) to place fifth in the team standings. Winning the tournament was Lindenwood University-Belleville which shot a 618 (+68).
Both the men’s and women’s golf teams will be in action Apr. 7-8 hosting the Missouri Valley Spring Invitational at Indian Foothills Park.
