MVC Golf Places No. 9 at the LU-Belleville InvitePosted March 25, 2014
Marshall, Mo. (March 25, 2014)- The Missouri Valley College men’s golf team took part in the Lindenwood-Belleville Invite in Cape Girardeau, Mo., Monday and Tuesday. The team placed No. 9 overall with its best individual placing No. 31.
Leading the men’s team was Freshman Kirk Hoggatt (Sikeston, Mo.) who shot a two-day total of 165 (+21) placing No. 31. Coming in at No. 36 was Freshman Caleb Abalos (Springfield, Mo.) who shot a 170 (+26). Freshman Shane Hall (Sugarland, Texas) placed No. 38 with a 171 (+28), Junior Dave Wheatley (Prince Edward Island, Canada) placed No. 41 with a 172 (+28) and Sophomore Travis Chorley (Alberta, Canada) placed No. 45 with a 174 (+30) to round out the top Viking golfers.
As a team the Vikings shot a 680 (+104) in the two rounds this week to place No. 9. The team champion was William Woods University which shot a 588 (+12)
The men’s golf team will next be in action Mar. 31-Apr. 1 at the Evangel Spring Invitational in Springfield, Mo. The women’s team will next play Mar. 28-29 at the Graceland Conference Preview at Mozingo Golf Course in Maryville, Mo.
