Marshall, Mo. (March 20, 2014)—Missouri Valley College athletic training student Sarah Snodgrass (Spring, Texas) has been selected as the NATA District 5 representative of the National Athletic Training Students’ Committee (NATSC). NATA District 5 encompasses the states of Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota. The committee is comprised of 11 athletic training students from across the country. This is the second time since 2009 that a Missouri Valley College athletic training student has been selected to this leadership position.
Sarah is currently a sophomore athletic training student who transferred from Trinity Valley Community College (Texas). She was selected as the newcomer representative of the Missouri Valley College athletic training student organization and she received the 2012 East Texas Athletic Trainers’ Association Scott Allen Memorial Scholarship.
“I was excited when I was informed that I was selected to fill this position,” Sarah said. “I am looking forward to impacting my future profession while meeting and working with athletic training students and leaders from across the country.”
Sarah’s duties on the NATSC will include increasing athletic training student awareness and involvement in athletic training issues, communicating national athletic training endeavors to the district athletic training students and assisting in developing athletic training student networking and socializing opportunities at the national athletic training meeting.
“Sarah has made such a positive impact on the Missouri Valley College athletic training program in the two semesters she has been here,” said Dr. Karla Bruntzel, Missouri Valley College athletic training program director. “Since arriving at Missouri Valley last August, Sarah has been heavily involved in fundraising and community service activities and has attended athletic training conferences. She will represent NATA District 5 well on this committee.”
Sarah’s two-year appointment and responsibilities will officially commence this summer in Indianapolis, Ind., at the national athletic training meeting.
