MVC Men's Lacrosse Suffers First Defeat of the Season to DePaul

Marshall, Mo. (March 15, 2014)- The No. 25 Missouri Valley College men’s lacrosse team played a neutral-site game Saturday afternoon against No. 21 DePaul University. The Vikings played a close game, but eventually fell to DePaul 11-10.


The Vikings entered their first game against a ranked opponent playing DePaul even through the first quarter, as the game was tied at 3-3. DePaul was able to take an advantage into halftime, though, as the Vikings trailed for the first time at the half all season with a 7-6 score. The Vikings stayed close with DePaul through the second half, but trailed by an 11-9 score early in the fourth quarter. The Vikings got back to within one goal at 11-10, but could not find an equalizer, losing the game 11-10.


The loss drops MVC to 5-1 on the season, while DePaul improves to 2-0.


The Vikings will next host St. Ambrose in a game on Mar. 21, at 4 p.m, at Reed Kepner Field.
