MVC Track Competes in Indianapolis Saturday

MVC TRACK COMPETES AT INDIANAPOLIS UNIVERSITY SATURDAY

 

Marshall, Mo. (February 15, 2014)- The Missouri Valley College indoor track and field team competed at the Tom Hathaway Distance Classic at Indianapolis University Saturday.

 

Men’s Results:

Markell Strickland-Competed in the 60 meter hurdles and placed No. 3 with a time of 8.51 seconds. Strickland also competed in the long jump and placed No. 1 overall with a distance of 12.64 meters.

 

Freshman Nolan Ryan (St. Peters, Mo.)-Competed in the one mile run and placed No. 4 with a time of 4:31.78. Ryan also competed in the 800 meter run and placed No. 17 with at time of 2:04.83.

 

Freshman Spencer Head (Camas, Wash.)-Competed in the one mile run and placed No. 12 with a time of 4:47.99.

 

Freshman Phillip Cheriyout (Nairobi, Kenya)- Competed in the 5000 meter run and placed No. 4 with a time of 15:03.05.

 

Distance Medley team placed No. 2 with a time of 10:54.82.

 

Women’s Results:

Sophomore Brittany Brisco (San Diego, Calif.)- Competed in the 60 meter dash and placed No. 5 with a time of 8.23 seconds. Brisco also competed in the long jump and placed No. 4 with a distance of 5.12 meters.

 

Santina Edwards- Competed in the 400 meter dash and placed No. 7 with a time of 1:03.17.

 

Junior Sarah Niemeier (Lohne, Germany)- Competed in the 800 meter run and placed No. 1 with a time of 2:20.90.

 

Taylor Kean- Competed in the 800 meter run and placed No. 19 with a time of 2:36.49.

 

Sophomore Daneka Brown (St. Louis, Mo.)- Competed in the long jump and placed No. 10 with a distance of 4.02 meters.

The Viking indoor track and field program will get back in action Feb. 21-22 at the HAAC Championships at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.
