MVC Cheer Takes First, Dance Second at HAAC Championships

Marshall, Mo. (February 15, 2014)- The Missouri Valley College spirit squad competed at the Heart of America Athletic Conference championship Saturday at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan. The Viking cheer squad took first place, and the dance team placed second in the small dance division at the event.


The Viking cheer squad captured the program’s fourth-straight HAAC co-ed division championship defeating second place Graceland University 78.13 to 75.47. The MVC dance team placed second in the small dance competition, finishing behind Graceland by scores of 83.33 to 67.83.


“I am so proud of all of the teams. They all did an exceptional job,” said Head Spirit Squad Coach Kristin Lyming. “The cheer team showed back up and claimed their third straight win this season and the dance team made a great name for the Valley Girls with a beautiful performance.”


The Vikings placed third overall behind first place Avila for the HAAC banner.


The Vikings will next compete at the NAIA Regionals in Oklahoma City, Okla., Saturday Feb. 22.
