MVC Track and Field Competes at Mizzou Invitational

MVC TRACK COMPETES AT THE MIZZOU INVITATIONAL FRIDAY

 

Marshall, Mo. (February 6, 2014)- The Missouri Valley College indoor track and field team competed at the Mizzou Invitational in Columbia, Mo., Friday.

 

Men’s Results:

Cameron Carroll- Competed in the long jump and placed No. 13 with a distance of 6.36 meters. Carroll also competed in the triple jump and placed No. 13 with a distance of 12.03 meters. In the 60 meter dash, Carroll placed No. 26 in qualifying with a time of 7.38 seconds.

 

Freshman Zhitavion Shelby (Kyiv, Ukraine)- Competed in the long jump and placed No. 19 with a distance of 5.85 meters. Shelby also competed in the 60 meter dash and placed No. 36 in qualifying with a time of 7.51 seconds. In the triple jump Shelby placed No. 10 with a distance of 10.69 meters. Competing in the 200 meter dash, Shelby placed No. 21 with a time of 23.71 seconds.

 

Markell Strickland- Competed in the long jump and placed and placed No. 15 with a distance of 6.18 meters. Strickland also took part in the 60 meter hurdles and finished in a time of 8.61 seconds, missing the finals by just .04 of a second. In the triple jump, Strickland placed No. 9 with a distance of 13.08 meters.

 

Sophomore Tyrail Gardner (Breckenridge, Mo.)- Competed in the weight throw and placed No. 31 with a distance of 10.69 meters. Garnder also took part in the shot put and placed No. 30 with a distance of 10.60 meters.

 

Sophomore Cory Baker (Strafford, Mo.)- Competed in the weight throw and placed No. 30 with a distance of 11.13 meters. Baker also took part in the shot put and placed No. 24 with a distance of 11.95 meters.

 

Sophomore Andrew Longboy (Mililani, Hawai’i)- Longboy also competed in the 1000 meter run and placed No. 9 with a time of 3:01.33.

 

Senior Jeff Crouch (Sedalia, Mo.)- Competed in the weight throw and placed No. 26 with a distance of 12.75 meters.

 

Freshman Phillip Cheriyout (Nairobi, Kenya)- Competed in the 5000 meter run and placed No. 1 overall with a time of 15:24.98.

 

Freshman Nate Martin (Jackson, Mo.)- Competed in the 5000 meter run and placed No. 9 with a time of 16:42.71.

 

Junior Will Lee (Strafford, Mo.)- Competed in the 5000 meter run and placed No. 10 with a time of 17:28.14

 

Freshman Dakota Harris (California, Mo.)- Competed in the 5000 meter run and placed No. 13 overall with a time of 17:54.35.

 

Earl Coats- Competed in the 60 meter hurdles preliminary round and finished in a time of 10.28 seconds. Coats also competed in the 400 meter dash and placed No. 29 in a time of 56.80 seconds.

 

Senior Dwayne Williams (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.)- Competed in the long jump and placed No. 11 with a distance of 6.59 meters. Williams also competed in the 60 meter dash and placed No. 21 in qualifying with a time of 7.26 seconds. In the 200 meter dash, Williams placed No. 15 with a time of 23.68 seconds.

 

Cedric O’Hara- Competed in the 60 meter dash and placed No. 24 in qualifying with a time of 7.33 seconds. O’Hara placed No. 19 in the 200 meter dash in a time of 23.63 seconds.

 

Zuva Bverkerwa- Competed in the 60 meter dash and placed No. 25 in qualifying with a time of 7.37 seconds. Bverkerwa also competed in the 400 meter dash and placed No. 27 with a time of 55.01 seconds. In the 200 meter dash, Bverkerwa placed No. 14 with a time of 23.26 seconds.

 

Lewis Owens- Competed in the 60 meter dash and placed No. 39 in qualifying with a time of 7.67 seconds. Owens also competed in the 200 meter dash and placed No. 35 with a time of 24.88 seconds.

 

Freshman Joel Lueck (Lexington, Mo.)- Competed in the one mile run and placed No. 10 with a time of 4:48.42. Lueck also competed in the 1000 meter run and placed No. 7 with a time of 2:56.68.

 

Senior Kenneth Kipng’etich (Nairobi, Kenya)- Competed in the 400 meter dash and placed No. 7 with a time of 51.26 seconds.

 

Freshman Spencer Head (Camas, Wash.)- Competed in the 800 meter run and placed No. 2 with a time of 1:58.00.

 

Sophomore Ignacio Franco (Cadiz, Spain)- Competed in the 800 meter run and placed No. 6 with a time of 1:59.19.

 

Alexis Barbry- Competed in the 3000 meter run and placed No. 6 with a time of 8:47.18.

 

4X800 meter relay team of Kipng’etich, Franco, Head and Freshman Nolan Ryan (St. Peters, Mo.) placed No. 1 overall with a time of 8:01.87.

 

4X400 meter relay team placed No. 12 with a time of 3:45.50.

 

Women’s Results:

Freshman Taylor Kean (Gravette, Ark.)- Kean took part in the long jump and placed No. 23 with a distance of 4.59 meters. Kean also competed in the 400 meter dash and placed No. 32 with a time of 1:04.60.

 

Sophomore Brittany Brisco (San Diego, Calif.)- Competed in the long jump and placed No. 19 with a distance of 4.87 meters. In the 60 meter dash, Brisco placed No. 28 in qualifying in a time of 8.48 seconds. Competing in the 200 meter dash, Brisco placed No. 34 with a time of 28.72 seconds.

 

Senior Amanda Buhr (Jefferson City, Mo.)- Competed in the 5000 meter run and placed No. 3 with a time of 19:42.87.

 

Guadalupe Burciaga- Competed in the 5000 meter run and placed No. 4 with a time of 21:07.8.

 

Freshman Olivia Bird (Tulsa, Okla.)- Competed in the 5000 meter run and placed No. 5 with a time of 21:40.90.

 

Junior Fanny Bertalan (Lyon, France)- Competed in the 60 meter dash and placed No. 29 in qualifying with a time of 8.50 seconds. Bertalan also competed in the 200 meter dash and placed No. 32 with a time of 28.37 seconds.

 

Junior Sarah Niemeier (Lohne, Germany)- Competed in the 600 meter run and placed first overall with a time of 1:40.95. Niemeier also won the 1000 meter run in a time of 3:08.26. In the 800 meter Niemeier placed No. 2:26.25.

 

Bria Miller- Competed in the 600 meter run and placed No. 6 with a time of 1:52.00.

 

Santina Edwards- Competed in the 400 meter dash and placed No. 25 with a time of 1:03.18. Edwards also competed in the 200 meter run and placed No. 20 with a time of 27.35 seconds.

 

The 4X400 meter relay team placed No. 8 with a time of 4:20.31.

 

The Viking indoor track and field program will get back in action Feb. 14-15 at the Hoosier Hill Invite in Bloomington, Ind.
