Charles Guthrey
Class of 2005

Charles played MVC varsity football for four years and was a member of the track team for one year.  He earned All-Conference and All-District recognition his Junior and Senior years as offensive tackle.  Charles was a member of the V-Club and a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon social fraternity. 

Charles served as a head football coach, assistant wrestling and track coach in Slater while teaching physical education.  He then later coached for Marshall High School football, track, and basketball teams. 

Charles states that Ken Gibler and Everett Rekhop were the ones who influenced his the most during his time at Valley.  He states that both were prime examples of dignity and quiet confidence.  Charles and his wife Jackie (class of ’72) are members of the Covenant Presbyterian Church.  He is also a member of Missouri State Teachers Association, Community Teachers Association, and Marshall Chamber of Commerce.  Charles and Jackie have four sons; Brad, Scott, James and Todd.
