What is the MVC Honors Program?
Missouri Valley College Honors Program offers high-achieving students the opportunity to enhance their college experience through attending conferences across the country, publishing guidance, and scholarship opportunities, including study abroad. Along with an enhanced college experience, the MVC Honors Program helps prepare students for a successful career in their field or graduate school.
Why should I participate in the MVC Honors Program?
There are several advantages to participating in MVC's Honors program.

- Opportunities to enhance and refine writing skills by working closely with faculty
- Priority housing beginning fall semester sophomore year.
- 25% scholarship for study abroad (maximum of $1500)

Admission to the Honors Program
New Freshmen - Students in the Honors Program must possess a minimum ACT score of 24 or a combined Critical Reading and Math SAT score of 1090 and complete the application for admission to Missouri Valley College. (If the minimum ACT or SAT is not reached, students can petition the Honors Program Director for provisional admission.) In addition to applying for admission to MVC, students must submit an application form and write a 300-400 word essay explaining why they are interested in the Honors Program. The essay should be submitted to Dr. Claire Schmidt.
Transfer and Current Students - Students who have already completed at least 15 but not more than 30 hours of course work with a GPA of 3.5 or above at any accredited college or university are also invited to apply for admission into Missouri Valley Honors.
Continued Participation in the Honors Program
To continue participation in the MVC Honors Program, students must receive a grade of A or B in all honors courses. Additionally, students must maintain a 3.2 GPA their freshman year and a 3.5 GPA every year thereafter.
